JPMorgan Chase — Infrastructure Developer
Joined JPMorgan on the infrastructure side, working on the team’s real-time metrics and events fabric. I helped develop a Java proof of concept integrating Apache Spark with that framework, aggregated a 30TB Cassandra dataset with Spark SQL, and ran Spark Streaming for real-time message processing, all to make the platform easier to observe and its data easier to reach.
The unglamorous parts stuck with me most: automating the environment with bash, sed, and awk, and covering 24/7 production on-call. On-call is where you learn what reliable costs. You stop shipping things you can’t support at 3am.
