My first real job, and the deep end: I was the entire company’s IT department, by myself. Designed and ran the Windows Server environment with Active Directory and Group Policy, and handled every hardware, software, and “it just stopped working” problem that walked in.
When you’re the whole IT team there’s no escalation path. You just fix it. I left to chase internships and see what else was out there, but I came back.
